Leaving home to focus on your healing is a big decision, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. At Monima Wellness, we offer women and identifying females a full mind, body, and spirit approach to healing from trauma, mental health challenges, and substance use.
Stepping away from daily life gives you room to slow down, reconnect with yourself and your body, and build a steady foundation before returning home. Out-of-state clients begin long-term treatment in our partial hospitalization program (PHP) while living at Ohana Recovery Residences, our partnered housing with 24/7 staff support.
Monima and Ohana work closely together, so you’re supported before, during, and after treatment, in a community built around healing and sisterhood.
Traveling for treatment can feel overwhelming. Our admissions team helps with each step, from your flight to your first day in San Diego, so you can focus on healing. Here’s how we support women traveling from out of state:
Answers to common questions from women and families planning to travel to San Diego for treatment.
Most clients fly into San Diego International Airport (SAN), which is the closest major airport.
Yes. A member of our staff will pick clients up at San Diego International Airport. Before the trip, they’ll reach out to introduce themselves and share what to expect. They also track the flight, so they’ll know when you’re arriving, even if your flight is delayed.
Every situation is different, so the best first step is a call with our admissions team. We may be able to share referrals for travel support. If someone needs a lot of help to travel safely, that can also be a sign that a higher level of care is the right place to start, and we can help with that too.
This is completely okay, and we can help. If someone needs detox or a higher level of care before starting treatment at Monima, our team will help coordinate referrals and plan the transition to PHP or IOP afterward. Reach out to talk through your situation, and we’ll help map out next steps together.
Yes. Intake paperwork can be sent electronically before you arrive in San Diego. Reviewing this ahead of time can make arrival day feel more familiar, especially for anyone who feels anxious about the unknowns. Our admissions team can also walk through what the first days of treatment will look like.
Arrival day is meant to be calm and unhurried. Staff greet you at the airport, bring you to the house, and make sure you have something to eat or drink. From there, they walk you through a few intake steps, like paperwork and a medication log, and help you get groceries. The rest of the day is for settling in and getting to know the house and team.
Yes, bring your current medications. At housing, staff log and hold all medications as part of intake. If you have questions about a specific prescription, our admissions team can help before you travel, and Monima’s on-site psychiatric providers can support medication needs throughout treatment.
